New Politics with Magic Man and Sleeper Agent

Heading over to the Santa Ana Observatory seemed to be a longer drive this past Tuesday than most other times, but it was worth it considering the incredible show I had ahead of me. I purchased tickets for my friend this past Christmas and I thought the show would be more of a treat for him, but I was really surprised at how much fun I had.
The two opening acts were Magic Man and Sleeper Agent, both of which performed with an energy that is quite hard to explain unless you too have a love for electronic indie rock. Sleeper Agent's frontwoman Alex Kandel did not disappoint live like you may find with other electronic based bands. They're the kind of live band whose music you can vibe to even if you've never heard them before. The same could be said for Magic Man, another electro indie band from Boston, who gave the crowd a energetic set complete with songs of their EP entitled "You Are Here". Their set was definitely my favorite of the night and I even managed to awkwardly approach the singer and tell him how much I enjoyed their music. Luckily he was a really nice guy who was thankful to hear what I had to say.

Finally, New Politics got on stage with an epic intro that seemed to get everyone pumped. You may know them for their big hit "Harlem" that's been all over the radio. Lead singer David Boyd took time to show off his break dance moves which surprisingly I was completely unaware of. They also were very vocal as far as talking to the crowd. My favorite part of their set had to be when they performed 'Tonight You're Perfect' and reminded the crowd that no matter what was going on in any of our lives that we were all there to enjoy a night of escape.

The light wasn't great and unfortunately I wasn't in the pit but here are some shots (:
